Identification and Recommendations for Resolving Technical and Technological Losses and Increasing Energy Efficiency in
Hydroelectric Facilities
For the successful implementation of the project it is important to identify technical
and technological losses within hydroelectric facilities, machinery and equipment.
Subsequently, recommendations for their reduction need to be provided in
order to achieve a greater degree of energy efficiency and economic feasibility.
The study analyses the Croatian hydroelectric system, points out its deficiencies,
and attempts to reduce them in order to make better and more efficient use of available
resources.
The study identifies losses within hydroelectric facilities; provides a description of
hydroelectric facilities per river basin; provides an overview of design parameters
and their deviation from planned realisation (electricity generation); and recommends
potential improvements in the operation and efficiency of hydroelectric facilities.
In its conclusion, the study provides information on: investment priorities between
individual areas which were identified as sources of loss, necessary investments
for reconstruction, concluding remarks, and recommendations for further activities.
