Local Energy Planning the County of Primorje
and Gorski Kotar
The project covers an analysis of the Regional Energy Plan for the County of
Primorje ond Gorski Kotar which is located in north-western Croatia. The analysis
was made in cooperation with the Norwegian University of Science and Technology
(NTNU), the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing
and the Energy Institute Hrvoje Požar under the auspices of the postgraduate
course Energy and the Environment.
The energy plan for the county will contain
a description of the energy demand and supply systems, local energy resources
and production, energy prices and local air quality. This will disclose the consumption
pattern and energy carriers that are currently present in the system. On
the basis of the current characteristics of the energy system, two scenarios for
the future energy consumption in the County of Primorje ond Gorski Kotar will be
developed using the EFI-ENERGI model developed at the research institute
SINTEF in Trondheim, Norway. The first scenario will be based on a business as
usual scenario, following the trends from the last decade, while the other will consider
fuel switch in the system and the possible implementation of new renewable
energy resources. New energy technologies will be described and discussed
in the context of the results.
